cujo_maskWhen it comes to hockey design, I was never into goalie mask design as much as I am into logos and uniforms. However, I’m sure there are fans of the creations painted on the skull protectors of the NHL netminders. And NHL.com has an article about this very subject. They go into some detail on what is involved in the process of creating the “billboard to a goalie’s soul”.

“I loved the masks that Gerry Cheevers and Ed Belfour wore,” Cipra said. “The thing is, one quick glance at Cheevers’ mask and everyone knows who wore it — that’s great art.”

There’s a small gallery featuring some goalie masks from around the league which can be viewed HERE.
